A cease and desist order has been issued to a Florida church that’s been selling bleach as a miracle cure for COVID-19. The Genesis II Church of Health and Healing has been marketing a product called “Master Mineral Solution” that promises to prevent and cure a variety of ailments, including COVID-19, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. However, after analyzing the “mineral solution,” authorities found it was just a bleaching agent.
“In the midst of a viral pandemic and national emergency like nothing seen for more than a century, the defendants are exploiting the crisis by marketing a powerful industrial bleach to consumers as a remedy for coronavirus, which includes COVID-19,” prosecutors wrote in a statement to the court. “When warned by authorities that their conduct was unlawful, defendants responded with open defiance, explicitly avowing that they need not—and will ‘never’—obey the law.”
