Is it okay to hide cameras to catch your babysitter?

“We have a babysitter that we think is stealing from us. We asked her about a few things that have gone missing and she claims she doesn’t know what happened to them.
I want to set up some hidden cameras around the house to see if we can catch her, but my wife thinks it’s an invasion of her privacy.”
