How do you confront your mother-in-law about your daughter?

“My 10 year old daughter came to me crying the other day because her grandmother told her she was fat and needed to lose weight. I’ve seen what my mother-in-law has done to my wife on this issue and I’m not letting that happen to my daughter. How do I stop her?”
