Users have begun noticing a glitch on Twitter, allowing formerly verified legacy accounts to temporarily reinstate their old blue checkmarks without paying for Twitter Blue. Twitter users have discovered that they could add the words “former blue check” to their Twitter bio, and the legacy verified check mark returned to their profile, but it’s only temporary until the bug is fixed. On April 20, Twitter Blue was introduced, removing the legacy verified check marks from accounts that were used to demonstrate the authenticity of accounts belonging to businesses, celebrities, politicians, activists, and journalists, allowing anyone to purchase a verified checkmark for their Twitter account for $8 per month.
